Sometime back around two years ago, I was introduce to the documentary, “What the health.” My reaction thereafter was to cut down my meat intake. I was convinced that meat wasn’t good for me. It has been nearly two years since and admittedly, I do sometimes end up eating some meat. I’m glad that my system doesn’t crave for meats. I use to love steaks. Last week, I was reading a book and the title “Forks & knives,” was mentioned. I watched it and OMG, it convinces me even more to switch my diet to totally plant base. Then there was another documentary called, “Game Changers,” and the highlights of the show pointed to a plant base diet. The biggest challenge for me is to give up milk & eggs.
I’m even more convinced to switch to a vegan diet.
I’ve recently decided to re-read, “Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.”
I read this book some thirty years ago and throughout the years, one message that sits in my mind all this while, though admittedly I cannot remember a whole lot of what’s in this book is “I believe I can, that is the truth.”
Now, during my re-reading session, I’m in awe, that with my reflections of my past I’m able to see how this book had shape my beliefs. There were also revelations that I’ve forgotten, virtues that I should have maintain but because I’ve slowly allowed negativity seep in, I’ve lost that edge.
I’m now on a repair mode. This book is priceless.
I have been having thoughts about what my purpose and goals are in my current life. Right now my daily routine is to drive Grab for a living and when I am not, I am a stay home dad looking after my two young boys. They have been the joy and sometimes they do drive me up the wall. Overall, I adore them and I am sure my wife adores them even more than me.
Of late, I was introduced to listening to a very informative person on Youtube i.e., Tom Billyue. through Tom, I have come to know of Jay Shetty, Dr Shefali Tsabary, Dr Rangan Chatterjee and more to come.
They are so inspiring and wise. Something that every single one of them has in common is “meditation.”
Curious isn’t it?
Do check them out and certainly, you will find messages in their webs that will appeal to you!
The strangest fact is that 95% of people are doing just that, working for a company and making the owners rich. Statistics have proven so. Click this link to see an overview of this. Click Here!
It is so often that I notice young children (2-10 yrs) misbehaving and the way the parents try to communicate with them is rather alarming. It is so rare to see the parent guiding the child about the misbehavior. More often I notice the parent reprimanding the child or using scare tactics, e.g., “behave yourself or else uncle will scold you or the I’m warning you, stop or else.” Whilst it is the parent’s aim to teach the child, many don’t “teach.” They command or tell or rebuke. In the adult years, it is no wonder that whenever our boss or superior, command or tell or rebuke us, our reaction is usually cynical or discontented. In contrast, when guidance is handed out, the mind becomes more receptive and willing. Children in their early years are no different. Whenever instructed with guidance, are more receptive but otherwise they may obey but deep within their minds, they are discontented. In fact they obey not because of the knowledge but rather because of the punishment.
I’ve been trying to discover the “why” behind these seemingly ridiculous arguments my wife and I do have.
I went to my local library and found several books and the first of these,
Breaking The Argument Cycle by Sharon M. Rivkin,
what a revelation. I have discovered things about myself that I never knew. It also greatly improved my marriage, amazing!
